School achieves outstanding success in Rainbow Flag Awards

Following such a positive year delivering The Rainbow Flag Award, LGBT North East would like to share with you one of the many success stories we have had along the way.
West Cornforth Primary School, one of the Schools from the North East to receive full Rainbow Flag Award status (pictured) achieved outstanding in all six sections of the award.
Teacher, Ms Smith, states “It has been wonderful to be part of the Rainbow Flag Award. The Rainbow Flag ambassador project has been extremely successful and as a result our children feel that they have the knowledge and the confidence to tackle any HBT bullying or prejudice that they might see. “The support that we have received as part of this project has been fantastic. “This project is helping to ensure that the next generation are well informed, tolerant and respectful.”
The Rainbow Flag Award is a national scheme for all Schools and Colleges. The project encourages a whole-school approach to improve visibility and inclusion of LGBT+ people.
